Description
Laboratories that conduct non-waived testing of clinical specimens for the diagnosis, treatment or prevention of disease must obtain a CLIA certificate and are subject to routine inspections either by a CMS agent or by an accrediting organization. This program will list the top ten CLIA deficiencies cited nationally. For each deficiency, the specific regulation will be explained so that labs may be better prepared and avoid being cited for each deficiency at their next inspection. For those laboratories that have already been cited for these deficiencies, examples of acceptable plans of correction will be discussed.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, the participant will be able to:

  • List the 10 most common deficiencies cited by CLIA laboratory surveyors throughout the nation
  • Describe examples of acceptable plans of correction for each regulation
