When it comes to working in a microbiology laboratory, knowledge is a necessity. Laboratorians need to know the risks of working with bacteria, fungi, TB and viruses and how to deal with them safely in the work environment. This presentation will define what a risk assessment is, describe the steps necessary to conduct a risk assessment and describe the mitigation options to prevent exposure to infectious agents.

At the conclusion of this program, the participants will be able to:
  • Describe how to conduct a risk assessment.
  • Describe the mitigation options available to prevent exposure to infectious agents.
  • List resources available to help in the conduction of a risk assessment.
