When laboratories seek to achieve initial ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation they oftentimes are stumped when they learn that the standard requires that many of the analytical methods they wish to include on their Scope of Accreditation need an estimate of measurement uncertainty. Focusing primarily on microbiology, this session will cover several examples of how Laboratory Control Samples (LCS) can be used to easily meet the requirements of the ISO/IEC 17025 standard.
At the conclusion of this program, the participant will be able to:
- Identify the types of analytical methods which require an estimate of measurement uncertainty
- Discuss ways the laboratory can use commonly collected laboratory data to calculate an acceptable estimate of uncertainty and when it needs to be recalculated
