Description
MALDI-TOF is rapidly gaining acceptance in microbiology laboratories as a rapid pathogen identification system. This program will address how MALDI-TOF MS is being utilized in the clinical lab as well as laboratory and clinical outcomes associated with the implementation of this paradigm shifting technology.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, the participant will be able to:

  • Discuss the positive outcomes associated with the implementation of MALDI-TOF in the microbiology lab
  • Recognize pitfalls associated with the transition from traditional identification to MALDI-TOF identification
