Description:
There is sometimes confusion about when to perform AST on stool pathogens and which additional drugs to report on isolates resistant to routinely reported agents. Furthermore, the incidence of resistance is often a concern. This session will discuss AST and reporting of bacteria that cause gastroenteritis, review the incidence of resistance in the United States and globally and suggest ways to structure stool pathogen antibiogram reports.

Objectives:
At the conclusion of this program, the participants will be able to:

  • Describe appropriate AST and reporting on bacteria that cause gastroenteritis.
  • Discuss the incidence of resistance among bacterial stool pathogens and options for conveying resistance data to clinicians.
