Attendees will participate in a combination of lectures and exercises that will describe approaches for validating Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) assays and the considerations for implementing quality assurance (QA) measures appropriate for NGS protocols from wet laboratory through data analysis.
At the conclusion of this session, the participant will be able to:
- Develop approaches for validation of NGS assays
- Describe the QA indicators that should be established
- Interpret various types of data output and how to verify proper analysis parameters
- Discuss a bioinformatician’s approach to designing a novel pipeline
Advanced registration through APHL is required. Registration for the full conference is not required to register for this workshop.

Continuing Education Credits
APHL is an approved provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences through the American Society of Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS) P.A.C.E.® program. Attendees have the opportunity to earn up to 3.0 contact hours by attending this workshop. Sign-in sheets must be completed and the P.A.C.E.® certificate must be signed and certified by APHL staff at the registration booth at the end of your time at the conference.
