Mentoring is most often defined as a professional relationship in which an experienced person (the mentor) assists another (the mentoree) in developing specific skills and knowledge that will enhance the less-experienced person’s professional growth. This two-part webinar provides an introduction to the mentoring experience for both the both the mentor and mentoree and sets the stage for the mentoring process. The information will enhance your knowledge and skills of mentoring as you use a collaborative approach to achieving ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation. The overall goal of this session is to improve the process of developing mentoring relationships between laboratories, and as well as holding mentoring discussions between and among laboratory staff. You will have the opportunity to strengthen your leadership and communication skills via mentoring, and be better able to more easily transfer strategies resulting in faster and more successful laboratory accreditation. This program is recorded for future viewing.ObjectivesAt the conclusion of this program, the participant will be able to:
- Discuss mentoring basics: roles, responsibilities, processes, skills, do’s and don’ts
- Apply the GROW Model in mentoring conversations
- Employ a 5-Step Process for establishing and maintaining successful mentoring relationships
- Describe the Advocacy and Inquiry Model to mentoring
- Apply the Advocacy and Inquiry Model to mentoring
- Demonstrate the mentoring conversation skills of listening, advocating and inquiring
- Discuss Action Planning to mentoring for the purpose of increasing successful laboratory accreditation
- Engage in mentoring conversations as mentor or mentoree
- Discuss Mentoring references and resources
