Pre-Conference Workshop

"Pumping Data into the Digital Heart: How Laboratories Can Gain Efficiencies in Their LIMS”

St. Louis Union Station Hotel
St. Louis, MO
June 3, 2019
8:00 am – 11:30 am

Many public health laboratories are facing the need to acquire new or upgrade current Laboratory Information Management systems (LIMS).This process requires laboratories to evaluate current business and technological needs in order to establish LIMS guidance, requirements and standards that will support their organizational mission. Through facilitated discussions and presentations, session participants will consider how laboratory informatics needs have evolved, and link these needs to LIMS requirements and best practices in order to help participants make effective technology choices.

At the conclusion of this session, the participant will be able to:
- Explain how to support a flexible and relevant LIMS in their laboratory and understand its benefits
- Describe major considerations that need to be addressed when embarking upon the LIMS acquisition, upgrade, implementation and evaluation process
- Identify lessons learned and best practices regarding LIMS acquisition, upgrade, implementation and evaluation
