Mentoring and Coaching are both often defined as professional relationships in which an
experienced person (the mentor or coach) assists another (the mentee or coachee) in
developing specific skills, knowledge, and perspectives that will enhance the less-experienced
person’s professional growth. This webinar provides an introduction to both the mentoring and
coaching experience for mentor, coach, mentee and coachee. Further, the webinar compares
and contrasts mentoring and coaching in terms of knowledge components, skillsets, and
process models used for each. The overall goal of this session is to differentiate and improve
the twin processes of mentoring and coaching relationships between and within laboratories,
as well as holding mentoring and coaching discussions between and among laboratory staff.
At the conclusion of this program, the participant will be able to:
