CLIA regulations, FDA concerns about Laboratory Developed Tests and Congress have been actively impacting the clinical laboratory for a number of years. We will describe the latest from these agencies as well as the CDC project. While 2013 will continue to be totally unpredictable because of the uncertainty of how the new Congress will perform, we must still look at what Health Care Reform has in store for all of us. The role of medical and laboratory practitioners in the discussions about regulation, proficiency testing, reimbursement and health care reform will be reviewed.
At the conclusion of this program, the participant will be able to:
- Describe the areas addressed in the current health care reform efforts.
- Analyze the implications of the FDA efforts on clinical laboratory services and business.
- Evaluate the changes in QC and PT requirements in CLIA.
