The 2018 APHL Annual Meeting and Twelfth Government Environmental Laboratory Conference will be held at the Pasadena Convention Center, Pasadena, CA from June 2-5, 2018. The meeting will consist of a member assembly, keynote session, plenary and breakout sessions, roundtables and exhibits all over the course of four days. This year’s meeting will discuss issues ranging from environmental issues to emerging infectious diseases and emergency preparedness, from informatics to food safety, newborn screening and global health. The Annual Meeting is the APHL annual membership meeting. Attendees include state, county, city and local public health lab directors, environmental and agricultural lab directors, senior laboratory staff, government and private laboratory personnel, and others interested in laboratory issues. The Annual Meeting will be preceded by three pre-conference workshops on Saturday morning, June 2 Registration is separate and details will follow. Remember - this meeting will start on Saturday and end on Tuesday. Registration Advanced registration through APHL is required. Registration is now open. Three pre-conference workshops will be offered on Saturday morning, June 2. There is an additional cost of $95. You may only take one.

Continuing Education Credits APHL is an approved provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences through the American Society of Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS) P.A.C.E.® program. Attendees have the opportunity to earn up to 15.0 contact hours by attending the entire conference. Attendance rosters must be signed for each attended session for which credit is requested and the P.A.C.E.® certificate must be signed and certified by APHL staff at the registration booth at the end of your time at the conference.
APHL has contracted with two hotels for sleeping rooms this year at the Annual Meeting - Sheraton Pasadena Hotel and Hilton Pasadena Hotel. The Sheraton is just steps from the convention center while the Hilton is two blocks away. Both are within easy walking distance of restaurants and shops.

APHL has negotiated a discounted room rate of $175.00 plus tax per night with both hotels which are valid until April 30, 2018 or until the block is filled. Travel The meeting will begin on Saturday, June 2 at 1:30pm and conclude on Tuesday, June 5 at 12:30pm. There will be three pre-conference workshops on Saturday morning, June 2 from 8:00am-11:30am. Please plan your arrival and departure times accordingly.
The two closest airports to Pasadena are the Burbank/Hollywood/Bob Hope Airport (BUR) and the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Both are serviced by all major airlines.
Pasadena is approximately 20-30 minutes from Burbank and 30-45 minutes from LAX (depending on traffic which can be heavy). The hotels do NOT offer complimentary shuttle service. Karmel Shuttle runs from LAX and offers a discount to attendees. Super Shuttle runs from both airports and costs around $25 from Burbank and $35 from LAX. A&E Limousine Service (Vladimir, 818.434.3340) can take up to three people in a town car sedan for $90. Taxis cost around $30-40 from Burbank and $80-100 from LAX.
